Default Bad Smell

car is a 94 dx(140,000) with its original cat/muffler when it warms up this nasty rotten egg smell comes out. at 1st i thought i passes some gas and didnt realise or something died in the engine, but then people told me it could be the brand of gas i use, or bad cat, or bad 02 sensor, someone even told me battery going bad.
i could think its the cat, cuz its old...02 sensor is new with swap, i changed the brand of gas i use...battery going bad?.....anyone have suggestions?

oh also it might be connected to the battery dying issue, takes longer to crank the motor and lights dim if not pressing on the gas......TECH comments are appreciated!!

You know what, is the smell coming from the engine compartment? Cause if it is and you think it might tie into your battery issues, I think it's you battery over charging. That'll explain the rotten smell.

Well just today when I came to work we had this rotten smell and it turned out that we had left the battery on a battery and it over charged.

Rotten egg smell is usually associated with the exhaust (bad cat)

Maybe you need to stop farting.

J/K.

Usually, egg smell points toward your cat being shot.

I'd say the cat as well. The dimming lights sound like an Alt. problem.

ha ha ha, he he he..........the stench is gone, just a heads up to everyone, it was the battery and not the cat......everytime the alternater would try to recharge the battery something would go wrong and it would fart out nasty old boiled egg smell. optima yellow came through and fixed the problem.

Good thing you got it taken care of. Wish mine was that easy. I destroyed a cat by rodding a car I used to daily drive. My friends still will not drive behind me when I'm in that car, it was THAT bad.
