bad internal seal in transmission
So ive been leaking fluid out of my passenger oil seal on the transmission. I took the seal off and noticed there was oil seeping out of the ring behind it. Id wipe it off and it would seep back through rather quickly. It also spinned fairly easy( I could use my finger) I compared with my spare trans laying around which on that one it didntspin at all. Ill post a pic later when out of school.
Wouldnt the oil seal stop the seepage from coming out of the trans?
Its an s20 transmission.
Can anybody shed some light on this ring? And will I have to pop the trans open to fix it?

When the axle is removed from the transmission, it is normal for oil to leak from the transmission.
If oil leaks when the axle is installed, then replace the seal.

The seal is good now. Its not leaking anymore im just worried if that is bearing is broken or what. On the other transmission I have laying around I cant turn that piece around with my finger like I can with the one in now
