Default Bad idle problem!!!

Ok so when i start my car up it sounds fine like it is just cold at like 1700 then goes up to about 2500 and never goes down. When im driving and in between shifts or if its nuetral it goes to 2500 but when i come to a stop it goes down to like 1500. So my question is? what the heck is it? why would it idle super high when moving and only go down when im stopped or at a 3mph roll.

my IACV i think is good. When you unplug it the RPM's go way down to 800 like it should and teh screen is clean. and the adjustment screw is good too and plus that wouldnt have anything to do with my high idle while moving problem.

My friend was having a similar problem and when I checked it for him I came to find out his throttle was staying open. Check to make sure it's not staying stuck open

Yep. Sounds like a sticking throttle to me, too. You can stick your toe under the accelerator pedal and pull it up to fix the problem when it happens if it's barely sticking. That's how it was with mine anyway for some reason.

i have tried to pull the pedal up and it doesnt move. But if it was a sticking throttle then why would the idle go down once i come to a stop. does that make any sense?

How do you know there aren't any vacuum leaks? There's no way the car knows when it's moving, so the idle issue would have to be related to brake engagement. The only thing that I can think of that would cause any idle change would be a bad brake booster. Take off the intake hose, clean the butterfly, and check to make sure the throttle isn't sticking before you do anything else.

but it doesnt go down when im braking it goes down when im stopped so it cant be that. and we compression tested the motor once we put it in and checked and cleaned the IACV so im lost. Im going to check the FITV today to see.

no its definately not a sticking throttle.

1dayillbfast, go back and set up your idle manually.

1)unhook iacv
2)jump service connector by the ecu
3)make sure the car is warmed up....
4)adjust throttle plate to ~700rpm
5)check TPS output voltage... should be less than .6 volts
(mine personally ONLY works right between .566 and .59volts, anything else and i either get no idle or a delayed pedal)
6)hook the tps back up
7)drive it around a bit and see if **** gets back to normal.

if this doesn't work, we'll start figuring out whats broken
