Bad gas mileage on my EG hatch..
Hi there.. I did a search for this, but didn't find much.. Hondas with bad gas mileage who woulda thought, haha.. I recently purchased a 1992 Honda Civic DX.. this is my first car, I've never owned a Civic before so I don't know what kind of gas mileage I should be getting but noticed it was pretty bad. I have been getting about 300 kms per tank (Im canadian).. I asked a friend of mine who drives a 91' Si hatch.. and he gets about 400 km/tank.. and he says even more in the summer. Now I have the B15B7..
Now, I'm still kind of new to Honda scene and I'm no mechanic like some of you guys.. What could possibly be wrong? I know there are many things, but I had the fuel line and tank checked for leaks.. no leaks.. I park it in my driveway all the time and I'd see a leak. I check my tire pressure atleast once a month, usually more.. and I always keep it at 32 psi, which I think doesnt make a that big a difference anyway.. one thing I did notice is this tube which looks really old.. and the valve aswell.. I found out its called the PVC valve and tube.. Could it be that my PVC valve and tube are causing such bad gas mileage? Any other ideas?
It doesn't really bother me much because I plan to swap a B16a2 engine in there this summer.. but things like this really bug me. Any ideas would be highly appreciated, ans thanks in advance

First things to check when gas miliage sucks are:
- Spark Plugs
- Spark Plug Wires
- Distributor Cap and Rotor
- Check your timings (timing light needed)
- Fuel Filter

Its not PVC its PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation). As to why you are having bad gas milage could be a number of things and that PCV could be one of them. It also could be your timing is off, you need new spark plugs, air filter. Pretty much if you wanna do a tune up that could solve your problem.

I actually don't kick it.. just turned 19, I got my liscence 1 year ago.. just bought my first car.. I really don't speed, especially in the winters we have in canada haha.. I shift at 2500-3000.. ontop of that I only have 4 points for another year so I really don't drive like a tool.
And I still get shitty mileage..
