bad fuel mileage 97 civic lx
car is a 97 civic lx with a d16a6 swap but running a p2e non-vtec ecu and lx trans...
anyway, run runs real rich at idle and i've been only getting about 25-26mpg doing about 70% highway driving..i've had the car for a few months now and i've finally ran the codes
3-map sensor
14-IACV
41-o2 sensor heater?
54- Crank Flucation sensor?
65-rear o2 sensor heater wire?
i know the map sensor will cause the bad fuel mileage but would it cause it to be that bad? id expect at least like 33ish mixed with the lx trans....canany of the ones with question marks be a cause for mad mileage too? before you ask the car has new plugs, fresh oil change and tires are properly inflated as well as a newer air filter.....

Re: bad fuel mileage 97 civic lx
I am surprised your mileage is not worse given the MAP and O2 sensor CEL codes. You probably don't have the right wire harness and ECU for your engine.

thats what im worried about...the harness is hacked pretty bad i know the ecu isnt what should be in it...how can i test if the map sensor is bad or if its the wiring?

First figure out what the best ECU for your engine is. Then search for a wire harness that will allow you to adapt the ECU to your car. The engine swap gurus will likely chime in to help you with details.
