Default bad engine noise in vtec

i own a 93 d16z6 5spd. when i take the car above 5,000 rpms the engine sounds like a can of beans being shaken (best way i know how to describe it). it is coming from the front driverside it sounds like. when the car is warmed up and in vtec it amplifies the sound 10 fold. i searched but couldnt find anything like this. do i just need my valves adjusted? anyone have this problem? i just got the car not long ago. the previous owner said all the maintanence was done but ??? any help would be appreciated. thanks a lot guys.

Default Re: bad engine noise in vtec (flydelsolsi)

right before i blew my type r motor the day before actually. mt motor did the same thing after vtec it rattled really bad and fast as the revs got hight. i didn tthink anything of it though. then i had a loss of power through out the entire power band and the night i blew it i was really stupid and tried to drive the **** out of it and in second gear that bitch blew lol. i paid the price for my stupidity i should have had some check it out as soon as i heard the noise. dont make the same mistake i did. it might not be the same problem but i would take it to get checked out by a reputable shop.
