BAD DAY!!!
i was driving home from my friends house (Rboosted717) which is right around the corner from my house. Im driving down this street like any normal day, i look down to check if i was doing 25mph and i was (neighbors called cops on me 2 weeks before for speeding down the same street), so im almost at my house, when this huge red Ford truck slams into the side of me. Anyways, to make a long story short, i got 6 stiches and a mild concusion. As for my hatch, well its needs a whole new left side. Ill post pics tomorrow. Just needed to vent..

Sorry to hear that, glad you're doing ok. This might be a blessing in disguise though. Milk the other person's insurance. You have a neck brace your can sport?

Re: BAD DAY!!! (itrhybrid)
when you take the car to the body shop (the guy did have insurance right?) ask them if they can paint the whole car and you pay the diff. Or try and sneak it into the whole thin.....didn't say that....I didn't say that. Dude, acceidents are the perfect opportunity to make the better part of you (your honda) better. Another thing, Doesn't this effect you emotionally, since you are so attached to the car that you drive and someone smashed into it....Lawyer....money....more parts

Re: BAD DAY!!! (owen_the_soyboy)
I got good and bad news!
Good news is, His insurance, will cover everything. BAD BEWS: They might write off my car, total it. Becuase the cost of repairs might be more than the cars worth. Its only worth like 3k or somthing. Anyone have experience with this before?????

Re: BAD DAY!!! (Downeybear11)
Do you owe money on the car?
Is the frame damaged? It doesnt look like it from the pics..
If they do total it out, ask them how much it will cost to buy the car back, they will usually sell it back for salvage value.
My 92 fourdoor DXwas totaled (flood damage), and they gave me 3,800 for it. Minus my 500 dollar deductable, i got 3,300 for it. I paid off the loan with this, and then bought the car back for 700 bucks. If i haddent had to pay off the loan, I would have got 2,600 bucks to put towards to repairs/mods. but the car still ran so i just drove it and later found my Si (as i pause to reflect upon a moment of thanks for the people involved to make that happen..)
My point is, If the frame isnt bent and all you need is a door and a fender, you can get a door from a junkyard for around 100 bucks, and a fender for 40 bucks through certi-fit or some other knock-off replacement panal place and install the stuff yourself. This will give you like 2,400 bucks to play with. If you decide to keep the car the same color, just get the paint matched and the new peices shot and spend the rest on mods.
The figures arent exact, because it all depends on what the ins. co is going to give you for replacement value and how much its going to cost to get fixed, but its deffinitely something to look into. Remeber, body shops charge around 60 bucks an hour for labor, and a lot of times this is where cars get written-off. the parts usually arent too expensive, and if you are at all mechanically inclined or know someone who is, hanging a door and fender isnt incrediblay difficult. The ins. co may just give you a check for the damages minus the salvage value of the car and let you keep your title.
another thing to think about is wether or not its hard to find hatches in your area. Its next to impossible around here to find a hatch without a bloated price tag, because everyone wants them for hybrids. It took me 5 years to find my Si, because most of the hatches i looked at were going for 1-2k more then what blue-book was. And it was with an extreme ammount of luck and understanding from the person selling it that i even came across it.
sorry for the long post, but ive been in your spot before and i just wanted to give you somes things to think about.
Oh yeah, youve got a great gallery of eg hatch pics, hope you dont care that i snagged some for wallpaper..

Re: BAD DAY!!! (Downeybear11)
well, i've been through this situation before, couple of months ago, my car got stolen and when they found it, the back side of my car was caved in, i had scratches, like key marks all across the car and my stereo was taken, i was pissed, the ins. co just wanted to write me off, i thought about it and didn't really want to car to be totaled, they were going to give me 3800, i still had a loan on the car, so i was stuck, but then, luckyly i found a guy that was willing to paint my car and fix the damage for only 4200, so i only had to pay a 400 diff, so i took the 3800, now the car is supersonic blue with no rust, just be patience and look around..then when you have no choice, etc....trust me, ins. co likes to take their damn time at this stuff..
