Default bad axle or control arm ball joint??

hi guys

when i drive my 00 civic on slow turns, i sometimes hear a popping sound or click.
its not continuous, usually just one pop, not the rapid clicking associated with a bad axle
it also happens when i begin the turn, as i'm turning the wheel, not midturn.

is this a sign of a bad axle or cv joint?
or is this a sign of a bad upper control arm ball joint?

i know my ball joints are deteriorated on my control arms, and the bushings are going too on my front upper control arms.

i plan on purchasing new control arms next week if that is indeed the problem
but i dont want to spend the money if thats not what's wrong
any help/input is appreciated.

Regardless of what it is, you should have it checked! A bad CV would make a constant noise when turning though....

could a ripped boot be causing this knocking/popping sound?

i know for sure that my ball joints are messed up.
could this sound be a symptom of this ?
or is this not something related?

i had my axles replaced a year ago btw ...

If all the grease is out of the rubber boot, it can dry out, causing the noise. I had the constant clicking in turns, and had to replace my axle. The car also shuddered on acceleration.

it's not a constant clicking like when an axle is bad

its usually just one or two pops/knocks ...

thats typically not true...
single knocks while turning or straightening back out usually means bad ball joint
