b7 and z6 crank pulley compatible?
The only pulleys I see are one with 2 sets of grooves w/o A/C and one with 3 sets of grooves to include A/C. Is a non A/C b7 pulley compatible with a z6 engine?

only if you never take the Z6 over 5000 rpms. Beyond that your risking ruinging the main bearings.
Z6 with B7 pulley, 600 miles later I'd ruined the mains.

Re: (Mista Bone)
I can't think of a good reason why it would cause that unless it was messed up and out of balance for some reason though. Could it have been an isolated incident?

Re: (Jizzmaster Zero)
they are interchangeable. the only d series that aren't are the 88-91 vs. 92-00. The snout on the crank is slightly different diameter

Re: (Jizzmaster Zero)
the 92-95 and 96-00 crank pulleys are different too, they may be switched around but then you have to change power steering pumps and the timing marks are different....anyway, keep your harmonic balancer

I'm sorry your misinformed.
Some 1988's were 22mm crank snout, the rest up thru 2000 were 24mm.
I REPEAT, do not use the lighter B7 pulley of you want your mains to live long. It's exactly what I did to achieve those bearings. Slapped in all new greens without dropping the crank, then started spraying it with nitrous. 26+ bottles and 40,000 miles later, they were still fine.
Just some idiot (ME!) forgot to remove the MPG chip and I sprayed 100 shot......hammered the rods pretty badly.

Bone, STFU about your broken *** motor.
I remember on HMT when you posted this bullcrap.
You fu*kd up that motor, not the crank pulley. You botched on the clearances, whatever. I've seen a number of motors run years and years on lightweight crank pulleys and they've never had a problem.

I was wondering as I read this about aftermarket light weight pulleys. If a lighter b7 pully will ruin a motor, wouldn't a aftermarket light weight one do it to?

7200 rpm limter on stock P28 ECU........
Z6 with stock pulley known to live at 8500 rpms, but with B7 pulley above 7000 rpms destroys the mains.
Step into SCCA/HC racing for a bit, leave HMT ideals behind and try to learn something.

Trust the tranny guru...
EDIT: if the B7 is all you got around. Use it. If you can stick with the Z6. Dont swap. If you just want to experiment. Do it. Find out results for yourself ya know.
