b7/y7 Mini Me, What Cam Gear?
I will be putting my y7 head on my b7 block ASAP to clear up some oil burning issues, and to at the same time up my compression a bit to get a tad more power in my 93 Del Sol. I'm pretty sure I have everything figured out that I need to do in order to get the y7 to work properly with my b7.
b7 block
b7 distributor
b7 head studs
y7 head
y7 camshaft
y7 upper left head stud
y7 timing belt
y8 2 layer head gasket
z6 intake manifold
z6 throttle body
P06 ECU
But what camshaft gear do I use? The b7 or the y7 camshaft gear? I know I can go adjustable like the AEM gear, but if I can use either one of the one's I have that would be great. Trying to save as much money on doing this as I can. If I'm correct I can use one of these two cam gears and just retard it by 4.5* and then adjust it from there to get the best adjustment for my engine.
If my calculations are correct I should be at 10.54:1 CR, if I just run 91 Octane I should not have to chip and tune my ECU. Although I know for a fact it would help a lot if I did. I will probably eventually chip my P06 with Neptune and get a street tune. Because I can use the same ECU on my other engine build. But as for the b7 engine in my Sol now I don't want to put money into it if I don't have to do so.
So if anybody can chime in on this, and let me know what cam gear to use that would be amazing. Thanks in advance!

I've read that on other forums, but then people rebuttal that for the particular setup it will not work. Oh well, maybe I will just try it and if it does not work out I'll just buy an adjustable gear... Then I'll update the thread to let everybody know if it works or not..

Re: b7/y7 Mini Me, What Cam Gear?
Okay, on DSO there is a guy with a b2/y7 combo and he is using the y7 cam gear. So if I can just figure out how to set the cam gear. I think it will work, if anybody has a clue as to what it should be that would be great.
