Default b20vtec swap, temp gauge not working

I just finished putting a b16 head on my b20 block and my temp gauge isnt working now..before the head swap my gauge has always worked. The only thing I can think of is that since I am now running the p72 gsr ecu, the coolant sensor is different than before with my p75 LS ecu and that I may need to wire it differently or sumthing..

The temp gauge reads straight off the sending unit below the distributer.

tranny ground looks good and physically the coolant temp sensor looks alright...is it possible for the sensor to be bad?
