B20BP8R Build Thread/ DX auto to B20 Manual

98 Coupe B20B build thread, AUTO to 5 SPEED, lotso pics
Hey all, I purchased this car in may of 2002. It started life as an automatic DX, I did not know anything about Hondas when I bought it I just wanted a nice car that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to keep up and fuel. I was quickly discouraged by the slugish auto tranny and felt it could definately be a better car as a manual. I also thought it would be better on rims. I went to Iraq and my sister had it while I was gone. When I came back I put it on 17" Motegii RT5s in matte black, put a carbon fiber hood on it, faux mugen lip and grill, projector black housing headlights, smoked the tail lights, added megan header, EX cat, ractive cat back exhasut and a tenzo cold air intake. It gor rear ended which snapped the bolts on my crappy exhaust. Then the front got clipped by an old lady in an Intrepid. I cracked the lip. I bent one of the rims in DC. I stripped all the crap off of afterward. Then it got broken into like 500 times. The last of which broke the passenger window. Also for christmas one year my father in law gave me a giant dent in the door. Merry Christmas.
Here is what it looked like before this started
Also one in the rain.
The plan was originally to just switch it over to a manual, it seemed easy enough. It has now evolved into this:
MODs thus far
JDM B20B with P8R head
LS transmission
LS Intake manifold
AVID billet mounts
P75 ECU, (looking into other options)
Airmass Ceramic Header
Fidanza 8lb Flywheel
Exedy Stage One clutch
ARP clutch hardware
Earl's SS braided clutch line
LS master and slave cylinders
OBX throttle body spacer
Password JDM Carbon Fiber intake
Integra LS Cat
fixxed Ractive catback (looking for other options)
I know that I will need to trick it to think the car is always in park to get the key out. HOW DO I DO THAT?
I still have a box of lower tie bars and LCAs and tokico blues and D2 springs and all manner of crap to put on it.
EDIT*
Its running, still havent started the suspension stuff yet either.
Went ahead and bought a set of jg301s and amstainless steel valves are a no go for the P8R head though. Read on a B20 info post that the ones for the old b20s out of 89 to 91 preludes might work so I am going to the u-pull-it next week to pull a set just to check em out, maybe there are SS valves for that motor.
I started looking at 1.6 EL, Domani, Gemini front end conversions. I likey. Any feed back on where to find one?
Please bump this post if you read it. Any feedback would be most helpful, even hate. I like that to. Also any tips on what to do with the thread that would bring more traffic.
Took the header gasket by, snapped a few pics thought I'd toss them up here is a side shot
UPDATE
reran harness, lengthened some wires
ran injector harness up through intake manifold
plugged power steering lines
began refittimg AC components
Should be test firing 9 / 8 / 2011
more pictures to come as well.
BIG UPDATE 10/3/2011

Re: B20BP8R Build Thread/ DX auto to B20 Manual
Found a dealer on the West coast with Orthia front ends, figured with a B20B in it maybe I should shoot for something a little closer to what the motor came out of. Price isnt bad either. Anybody ever put an Orthia front end on their Civic or got pics of one on a coupe?

my bad dude, I was editing the first post, and not really doing a very detailed job of it. I'm still pretty new here, I saw it on other threads and thought it was standard practice. I'll lay off it for awhile.

toss those Blox LCAs in the trash. theyre garbage. keep the OE ones unles you really need to replace them, then look at F7 or Funtion&Form, or a couple other good ones that people will chime in with..
but blox's quality is about the same as megen racing " better then chinese ebay stuff, but lower quality then the real brands"

yeah mount was very loose, pulled it and cleaned it, put it back in reseated good to go, I got to finish the three wire to two wire conversion on the IACV tomorrow and then hopefully I can start test firing. Is the BLOX ***** really trash? I thought they made OK stuff. Was going to get an intake manifold and throttle body to go with the cams I got. (JG301s) IS that stuff any good? I havent heard anything negative.
what MODS are you running on your P8R, if any?

my 2 cents
by the look of the first few pics it looked like you had a lot of work to do but after reading the post it seems like you are going in the right direction. I wouldn't go for the conversion but then i would be contradicting my sig so if its what you want do it. Btw your are the first person ive seen on here from NC I live in Asheboro. Small world huh

Re: B20BP8R Build Thread/ DX auto to B20 Manual
Test fire was a sucsess It still has the auto harnes with the slider that tells it what gear its in and once I played with it and got it into the park position it turned over, choked sec and fired! Pretty bad *** with out exhaust. It only has a header (4-1) now. It basically made my ears bleed, Kinda sad it cant sound like that all the time. As far as parts I picked up a flywheel cover, thats all for the past three days. hopefully my header has been repaired and back in the shop so I can hook the rest of the exhaust to it and start dealing with CEL stuffs. Will be back on it tomorrow. Should be posting pics later tonight, along with start up movie.
