B20b swap cranks but won't start!

B20b swap cranks but won't start!
hey guys
first off sorry if this is repetitive. No other forum seemed to help.
Working on a 98 civic ex.
My friend blew his b18b1 swap he had in.
i pulled motor and put in b20b short block.
I transferred b18b1 parts to B20b to complete the motor.
Got everything together and dropped back into his civic. Added all Fluids.
Car cranks but won't start.
I do not hear the fuel pump priming.
I checked fuse and it's good.
Choke out intake with gas on a rag and car starts but stops running shortly after.
Disconnected fuel line from bottom of fuel filter and turned key to On position. Fuel pump did not send any fuel to the filter.
Bought and installed new new fuel pump. Same problem persists.
Any ideas on what it could be? Almost seems like vacuum leak but I cannot find one anywhere.

This is an electrical problem, everything seems to be working except the fuel pump. Check for power to the fuel pump at the gas tank. Check gas tank ground. Check main relay. Check fuses again.

Re: B20b swap cranks but won't start!
So to test power at fuel pump I'm just gonna use a voltimeter at the fuel pump electrical connector correct?
And do you happen to know the voltage it should read?
Checked all fuses again. They're good.
Gonna try main relay next.

Re: B20b swap cranks but won't start!
I'm working B20b.
There are no gunmarks on timing cover to check timing marks on crank pulley. I set tdc on first piston and checked distributor for proper alignment and it was good.
Fuel pump is not priming. I am not getting fuel to the fuel filter.
Ive tried different ecu.
Changed fuel pump.
Changed main/fuel pump/ pgfmi relay
checked all fuses twice.
checked the 3 grounds over and over.
Why else would i not be getting fuel to the filter. I find it hard to believe it's anything with the chassis wiring.
The car was running a b18b1 and the head gasket went out. I just swapped the B20b in and it ain't working.

Going to check the wire connector for fuel pump for power today and spray starter fluid in intake while turning it over to see if there is a timing issue as well.

If the fuel pump does not run when you turn the key on, the immediate reason why it won't start is not in the engine, likely not even under the hood. Why do you "find it's hard to believe it's the chassis wiring"?

Re: B20b swap cranks but won't start!
Yes I transferred harness from b18 to B20b.
I dont believe its chassis wiring cus the b18 was starting no problem until my friend blew the motor. Everything should have been plug and play and started up right away.
What i I found out yesterday is he was having someone else work on car but the guy never started so he made him bring the car back. Radiator was missing. So I wonder if he fucked anything up before I got to the car. So now maybe chassis wiring is an issue.

Re: B20b swap cranks but won't start!
Okay.
So fuel pump is not getting power.
I ran a hot wire from battery.
The car still did not start.
I checked timing it is correct.
I've checked fuses over and over.
Ive changed main relay.
ive Checked for vacuum leaks.
I've changed map sensor.
I've tried two starters
two distributors
I've checked grounds multiple times.
Im out of ideas here.
Anybody have a clue?

Re: B20b swap cranks but won't start!
Thank you all for the ideas and help.
I figured it out.
After checking ground wire myself.
And havinf 5 other friends who have done successful Honda swaps check all wiring.
I was messing with car again after doing compression test and just thought it had to be that ground.
took off all grounds and cleaned connectors and mating surfaces on chassis etc. and sure enough car started right up.
Fuel pump even primes on original wires now.
Thank you all.
So if anyone reads this forum. Idc how many times you check the grounds. They could just be dirty. And mine really didn't look bad. Just a lil grease or dirt between the mating surfaces could ruin it all. So check those grounds like it's your temperature gauge rising to hot.
