B20B with Gsr Tranny in a ek
I currently have a ek with suspension/interior and etc done.
I am debating whether or not a b20b/gsr is worth being done on my car. I'm not looking for massive horsepower or a nasty gas guzzler but something peppy so im not stuck in the back when im out cruising with my boys.
Anyone have any input on wether this swap is worth it?
I think the swap will be abotut 2300-2500 installed with new exhaust and a/c.

It's not bad. I think you may be able to do it for cheaper, however.
The B16 trans would be nicer. Honestly, for a bit more than $2500, I'd look for a GSR swap, then add a B16 trans later on.
The B20 is..cool. But it's not really fun IMO. A 7k RPM SUV engine...meh. No character. It has good torque and a good power band, but it's boring.
A B16 would be about as fast, cheaper, and a lot more fun, IMO (before this starts a B20 vs. B16 war, remember that I said IMO). You can find B16 swaps now a days for like $2k or so.

Not really. It's seriously not as bad as people make it out to be. I've had 2 cars with B16s. I still get in the 30s on the highway going 70-75MPH. My EM1 gets around 29-32 at 70-75mph and 27-28 at 80mph. Not a big difference from my GSR's 28-32 at 70-75mph and 28-29 at 80mph.
Obviously, it drops off more dramatically the faster you go. If you keep it around 70-75, it's just about the same as a GSR.

But its around 4400rpm at 120km .
Anywho im 100% sure im not going with a b16a trans. I just dont want to spend money on a swap and be disappointed.

The 4.7FD is higher than the 4.4 or 4.2 B16 trans. Meaning higher revs at the same speed. However, since the trans gearing is different, the revs are about the same as a regular ITR trans.
The higher the FD, the lower the gearing FYI.

Re: B20B with Gsr Tranny in a ek (B serious)
i see.
its because someone told me that type r lsd is yes indeed shorter gears to stay in the powerband better, but that the 5th gear is geared like a gsr so it revs a lot lower in 5th than a regual b16 trans... clear this up someone for me? im about to buy one to replace my sh!ty tranny that keeps spitting out 5th gear and grinding 1st and 3rd... its a b16.

That’s the same setup I am getting on my eg b20 with a gsr trans…I have the same goals as well. I am really hoping I am not going to be disappointed I should have my car back by today…2300-2500 installed with a/c and exhaust that’s a pretty good price. I am paying 2000 installed no a/c no exhaust. Hey nintend0 where are you from by the way? So cal?
