Default B20 vs. GS-R

What do you guys think would be a good motor to swap in to my 1992 Hatchback SI -

a B20 motor with a Gsr tranny + whatever mods i need to make it fit under my hood

or

A GS-R motor - complete swap...
Im sorta on a small budget right now so this will be my daily driver for a good 5 - 6 months and then I would slowly start building up one of these motors toward boost-
I was thinking the B20 because its cheaper to start out with and I've always wanted to bulkd a B20/Vtec motor but the GSR is a favorite also...

I was thinking a GSR wouldn't be that good considering i have an Si - the heaviest model hatch - but if you guys think its the best bang for the buck I'll look more into it....Thanks to the people who were straight up and gave me good advice!! I really appreciate it

Both motors are great. Depends on how much money you want to spend, and your setup. You'd just have to study both motors and get the pros and cons of both, and make a wise decision.

I went with the GSR and I am totally stoked with it. It's my daily driver, no hassles or worries.

I have a JDM B20B stock, no mods......on a 1992 VX hatchback.....i eat up the GS-R's on the highway and streets.....i match up very close and beat my boys 99 SI w/ a bunch of bolt on mods.....he runs 15 flat.....i never ran on the track.....if u plan to do mods and put money into the engine.....B20 is a good choice...if u don't i would go w/ the GS-R B18C......all up to u and what u want to do...

I would not boost a b20 with out sleeving it first.
if your gonna have to sleeve a block, might as well sleeve a gsr block, it'll be better in the long run.

Thanks for all your help guys!!

I think im gunna probally go with the B20 swap because until i can fully build the motor to handle the boost etc. I'll have some fun with the torque and probally end up putting a gsr or b16 head on it...I really appreciate all your help and all the different scenarios you guys mentioned -

bcnhba34 - Im in the rockland area of NY you??

thanks again

good move, b20

im not all that happy with the b18c in my si hatch (maybe because the si is a good 2300+lbs ? ) best i could muster was a 14.6@93 with i/e, clutch, cm fly and pirelli p700's.....others in cx/vx hatches are running high 13's low 14's with boltons

cant wait till i get a b20 bottom and build her up in spring! b20/vtec, oh yea !

The only way I would purchase the gsr is if the cost was exactly the same as the b20

addendum: people are correct, if you're going to make fun of someone at least spell everything right

Who listed Daisy Ducks? It is daisy dukes, please make note of it and pass it on to remaining co-workers.

Are you saying the B20 is cheaper than a GSR?

A B20 HB can easily beat a GSR. But a GSR motor in the same car is faster.
