How much power are you aiming for? Only planning to run a few pounds like 200hp or like 500? The amount of power you're aiming for will dictate what you need to do or if you could get away with the B20

B20 and just get it sleeved. But then again, it depends on how much power your looking for. Plus a B20b from the 96-98 CRV already had compression around 8:8 compression

If you want that much horsepower I suggest you build the bottom end, not use a stock bottom end. I would get the block sleeved and use forged rods and a nice set of low compression pistons.

You can get 350hp pretty easy with a stock build. There really isnt a need to build the bottom end until you get around the 500hp mark, thats about the limit for a stock block. The rod bolts are usually the weakest part of the bottom end, so if you want to change anything change those first.
