b18c5 w/ gsr head on a 96 ek, i have a question and pics of my proj...
hey guys, here is my question..
lets say im driving my car right? and i step on it ..
when the car hits 5k rpm and the v-tec kicks in ,it only pulls hard after 6500 rpm
like the front end goes up and everything, but only after 6.5k..
its running good, but hard ,only after 6.5k
is that normal? please let me know what guys think....
im running a p72 ecu
a blox intake manifold
2.5 inch header back w/ mandrel bent (for future turbo)
fuel pressure reg( w/ no gauge) i know i need to get one ...
oh, and sorry for my spelling..

the stock ecu is designed to make vtec and the dual stage intake manifold work together. by going to a single runner manifold like the blox vtec comes on too early and you basically have a dip in power and torque untill ~5700. which is exactly what you described.

Stock GSR ECU activates Vtec at 4,800. Too early as already stated. You can't tune a "stock" ECU. You need to either chip it or convert to OBD-1 and then tune or get it tuned.
