Default B18c5 overheating

Hello everybody. I am new to this forum and would like to know if anybody has an idea of why my b series is overheating. It’s a 98 spec type r on a 93 civic hatch. Fan works, but looks like it gets low on coolant. I notice temp raising up when stuck in traffic on a 90+ weather. Like I said, fan works but temp goes up really fast if I don’t keep car driving. Any help will be appreciated.

a leak somewhere? But I don’t see any coolant on the floor at all. I Checked all the hoses and they seem ok. I don’t see a leak anywhere. There is a coolant smell coming from the engine bay tho...

Possible that the heater core is leaking. Any coolant on the pass side floor?

Small coolant leaks can be hard to find since it dries up, but how fast are you losing coolant?

What fan and thermostat are you using? What coolant mix? What radiator?

I will have to check the passenger side for leaks. I am using regular autozone thermostats and aluminum radiator? It does not get very low. Temp went higher when stuck in traffic? Can it be maybe a leak form radiator cap?

My guess would be a radiator cap unable to maintain pressure.

Forgot to ask, if aftermarket aluminum radiator cap needs replace, where do I find one? Does OEM fit?

Thank you

Bring the cap to a parts house and match it up with one they have. Write that number down in a notebook and keep it in your glovebox.

After doing a pressure test on radiator, I found a small leak on radiator. That explains why the smell of coolant but no coolant was visible as it evaporating really quick due to aluminum radiator being hot. I will replace radiator and hopefully that will fix it
