B18C5 or H22A Type S?

B18C5 or H22A Type S?
I currently own a '00 Civic Si, and am looking to swap the original B16 out. I am looking at the H22A, but have heard that it is difficult, and can be costly to swap. I am not really looking to put a turbo on it or anything like that, being as i would like to use it as a daily driver as well. Would the H22A or the B18C5 be a better option? And what would I need to add to my car to complete either swap?

Your already starting with a B series and i know you ruled it out but just turbo it. You will have a better gain for the money, and the time involved, than you ever will with a swap. Just think about it, you could turbo your car:
-Get a kit, be street legal and have about an extra 40-60 whp for about $2500.
-spend maybe 2 days on install and research on what the best turbo kit is for you
or you could swap
-spend about $5k on the itr swap or $3.5k on the H22 swap
-get about 20 whp difference
-have to go through the hassle of selling your engine
-take about a week for the itr swap or a month for the H22 swap
-even after selling all your parts out your looking at a $2k difference that your going to have to eat, for 20 whp......
just turbo your car out. Less bling factor but you'll pull on any itr or h22 swapped civic, have better gas mileage (when you drive regular), have a better daily driver experience (torque!), and i dont know how a turboed car wouldnt be a daily driver but as long as you keep the boost reasonable then it will last.

If you really want to swap your motor out i think you should do the ITR but if you want to save money like the others said just slap a turbo kit on dat bitch, or build dat B16.

My H22 swap only took about 3 days. But nonetheless you already have a good starting point so it would be knd of silly to swap it out, you should just boost it

i'm sorry, i should have said this earlier...but the reason i am swapping my motor is because it is hydro-locked, and it would take a lot to rebuild it.

I love how H22 swaps seem to take months and months to swap into a car. The hardest part about a H series swap, is building your harness. Now if you buy a pre-made harness, there goes that problem. After that, the next hardest part I would say, is figuring out if you are going in from the top, or up from the bottom.

I've always been a fan of "quick and easy" especially when it comes to auto repairs. So, I'd just get a B18C1 or C5 shortblock and maybe a P73 ECU and call it a day.

So you h-locked eh, I would still just get a new block, of course im assuming your head is fine too. You would pay $800 or so for a block w/internals, then you could turbo for $2.5k. A little more expensive than what i previously mentioned but still faster by far over ITR or H22 motors.

I agree with him get a cheap b18c1 block, and rebuild your head and reuse everything else. cheaper than a full swap.
