B18C5 engine into to a 94 Civic ESI (D16Z6)
Hello,
I am carrying out an engine swap for a friend, His car is a 94 Civic hatch ESI (this comes with a D16Z6 as standard). He has purchased a B18C5 engine which had been used in a previous engine swap in an old shape CRX (these came with a B16 as standard in the UK).
The wiring is the bit I am confused with, the engine came with a P73 ecu which I was told was a JDM ecu, and an adaptor wiring harness. What am I going to need to do change? I posted on a few Uk based forums but got differing answers.
I have read the below post, but still not sure, I take it i have to wire up the knock sensor, how is this done?? but I have also read about a IAB wiring mod by the sound of it the wire has to be changed from one pin to another at the ECU, could this already be built into the adaptor wiring harness. I take it also the P73 ecu is OBD2 so would normally have 2 O2 sensors, but it would only have one in this swap does this cause a problem.
"92-95 EG and Del Sol with 94-2000 GS-R B18C(including Integra Type R) & 93-97 Del Sol Vtec & 99-00 Si B16a2
ECU: Use ecu that came with the Engine with proper wiring modifications. For those who do not wish to use OBDII ecu's. For the B16a2 Si motor use the JDM P30 Ecu. Other wise you may use a Chipped P28 with the Proper Programing.
Electrical Differences: B18C1 add air intake Bypass wiring. Cx and Vx need to conver to 4 wire o2 sensor. Non Vtec models need to be wired for Vtec solenoid and Vtec Pressure. All models Modify stock harness to fit. add knock sensor if you are not using a Chipped p28 ecu. Hasport Harness for B18C1(GSRmotor) part #EGDX-GSR
Special Instructions: Using OBDII ECU involves wiring modifications. Generally if the ECU you choose does not use the same plugs as the stock ECU, an adapter harness will cut down on alot of potential problems."
Thanks in advance
