pros:

more power on less boost
great tranny

cons:

higher initial cost of the engine
less room for error when tuning

The great tranny could really be a pro or con. You could possibly have trouble with "running out of gears" at the track, and if its a street car, highway crusing and gas milage would be questionable. The car would accelerate quite quickly though

I dont agree with "running out of gears" on a track, well 1/4 mile ne way lol. but I do agree with you about the highway cruising- It would be a little annoying being in constant boost in 5th gear lol.

the con would be spending 5 grand on a motor when you could see similar results from a LS and spend 3 grand less.

Well when I say "running out of gears", I don't literally mean topping it out in the 1/4 mile. You will most likely have to shift into 5th gear though, and will be in the upper rpms with the right amount of boost. If you are doing many highway pulls with buddies however, you just might "run out" of gearing lol.

well the thing is.. i can get the motor for 800 bucks but i have to buy the car it comes in.. so i thought pull the motor and put it in my sol.. and as far as highway crusing i figured ide put the d15b7 in the CRX and have boosted D so i would use the ITR motor as my play toy and the d15 as my beater since i know it can take alot of abuse

also the type r motor is a high compression motor which is not good for a boosted setup.

lol yea thats possible, but I can hit 120 in 4th in my R tranny. But I see what your saying you would run 5th out even faster with boost lol.

False

One day people will listen to me about this. Having higher static compression limits the amount of boost (power created) you can run/make on a certain fuel grade. Higher compression actually makes for a more streetable setup since the off-boost response would be similar to that of a normal NA car.

Come over to the FI Forum and we'll help you out if you're serious about boosting your ITR.
