i know to clay it, was just wondering, because they are already in the head, and the motor is already installed in the car. I just bought it like that, and wanted to make sure there arent any clearance issues, if somebody has the same set up. Seems to run great, but i havnt brought it up to high in RPMS until i know for sure.

You are asking something that cannot be pecifically answered. You need to seek the answer by doing the work. You want to run your engine based off of "it should be ok" then have at it. When you grenade the whole setup on the dyno messing with the gears, don't say you weren't warned.

clay it? people have stage 2's all the time. it should be ok, as long as ur head isn't modded like milled. I had my head milled, resfurfaced twice and i had stage 2's and i didn't have any clearance issues. Im going to throw my stage 2's in my gsr as well, but thasts completely stock

I never said he would for sure have problems. I did say that the only way to know for sure how far you can adjust the gears is to clay the engine... This would hold true no matter WHAT you had done with the engine, being that it is an interfearance engine. Agree?

If you plan on putting stage2 skunks in a stock GSR engine, then you can pretty much bet you will loose a good amount of power.. The static compression isn't high enough for such a large cam.

still not enuff i think. from what i heard, in order to maximize the s2s2 cams a minimum of 12:1 cr is ideal. jdm itr is 11.1:1 cr

now based on my 00 Si and before i had hondata, it was dynoed and showed a big dip between 5500rpm to 6500 wid the s2s2. cr was just too low. my vtec was moved to 6200rpm hondata tuned(along wid some more goodies) and then usable power was shorter . revlimit 9200. dyno showed 172whp and 122 tq @8900. its not the best for a stock B16 or a B18 if u ask me. unless u really are ready to up the cr. valvetrain upgrade too. better off getting the stage1 imho.

tho i could be wrong and some engines might have responded better. i never tried the s2s2 on another engine.

Thanks for the responses. I know to clay the motor, and i would have for sure if i built the car, i actually just got the car with the B18c installed, as well as the cams. It has the s2s2 cams already in it, to me so far, i havnt noticed any problems, i plan, on going turbo with this car, and i am changing out the cams, along with internals over the winter for turbo. I just wanted to know if anyone has this set up, and if they had any issues, You know how it is when you get a motor and you didnt do any of the work, no one does as good as a job as yourself! i just want to make sure it lasts until winter, and that these cams wouldnt be a problem until then .

Only 10.6:1.. I wouldn't put those cams in anything short of 11.0:1 and even that is a touch low imo.

I made more then that with stage 1's. If you want to overcam your engine, go ahead. It will be slower, thats for sure as the powerband will take a huge hit as has already been stated.
