B18c1 into EK questions
Hiya folks
New to this site from over in the UK, wonder if anybody can help me out
I've got a B18c1 from an integra Si (GSR) ready to drop into my 96 EK civic, i understand that the C1 has a dual runner intake manifold and this kinda strangles the engine to a certain extent..
What i need to know is how easy/complicated it would be to swap it over for a single runner, like the Skunk2 IM??
Would i have any problems with the P72 management? or with the cams?
Cheers
Lee

Re: B18c1 into EK questions
If you use the P72 then you will need to wire up secondary butterfly solenoid wire which is not difficult at all.
If you want to change it to the SK2 manifold then you would need to get the ecu re-programmed so the fuel mapping corresponds to your engine.
Both options are not difficult, just depends on what your pockets says but IMO you should just keep the C1 mani for it does not hinder as much as you think.

Re: B18c1 into EK questions
Thanks for the quick reply man
Cool, i was just under the impression (by MB6 owners here in the UK) that the B18c1 shares the same dual runner intake as the B18c4, they made out that if you change the Dual runner to a single runner you have to swap out the cams, springs, ECU and get it all mapped hah

Re: B18c1 into EK questions
Keep the dual runner. It doesn't strangle anything if it's working right, and it will give you much more torque below 6000 rpm, especially at the beginning of the vtec crossover between 4200 and 6000.
Or, throw on a skunk2. You will need your ECU chipped to not look for an IAB solenoid, and to adjust A/F maps. And you'll lose power in the low and midrange, and gain a tiny bit on the top end.
If you look at the dyno plots of a gsr engine, they look very different from a B16 due to the lower vtec crossover and the dual runners. A B16 will typically be low, then jog down a bit around vtec cross, then jump up. A GSR should typically be much more linear, with no drop before vtec crossover.
