b18c1 gsr vs b18c5 type r
I was wondering what motor was better out of a b18c1 and a b18c5.. i heard that the type r was built more for motor that is why it has a higher stock hp.. but i do plan to put a turbo on so i was wondering which would be better. Thanks

Search.
The B18c5 (type R) motor would do fine with a turbo except that it is a higher compression motor than a B18c1 (GSR) is. Turbos can make more power on the lower compression GSR motor running higher boost vs the higher compression motor running low boost. High boost and high compression mean boom. I'm strictly speaking on a stock motor. You can build either one up and make it bulletproof...... but if you're even asking this question, i'm guessing you don't have plans for that. The ITR motor will cost you more money because of the hype. A GSR motor would save you some cash which could be put into the turbo or some engine management.

although you can sometimes find ITR motors really cheap if you know where to look.....but yea..it'll prob be better if you go with the GSR if you gonna boost...

Re: b18c1 gsr vs b18c5 type r (B18CivicEg)
a boosted itr will be faster due to the bigger intake mani, bigger cams, higher comp, and shorter geared tranny. now ask yourself if the price difference between the itr and gsr make all those add ons worth it. my opinion is if you have the money get the best motor you can unless your planning a FULL build.

please explain to me how an LS/VTEC is faster than a boosted B18C (GSR and/or Type R).
turbo will work perfectly fine with a B18C5 if tuned right. don't be afraid of the high compression.
and please use the Search function before you ask/post a question in this forum.

well its simple...it all depends how its built....you can always boost either motor... you can always have a FULLY BUILT NA motor and take out a simple boosted GSR ITR motor....it all depends on what motor has what...boosted GSR motor isnt the the fastest motor (not saying thats what you said)....but it all depends on what kind of work you do to a motor...

Re: b18c1 gsr vs b18c5 type r (B18CivicEg)
now you're just looking at too many variables
i'm assuming stock for stock, and properly tuned. it would probably cost more to build an LS/VTEC to beat a tuned boosted B18C1.
compare the prices of aftermarket parts to the market prices. don't think/say "well i can get this or that part from somebody i know." thats just cheating again lol

oh yea...going NA is always gonna cost more than going FI ....no questions asked...but yea man...too many variables to really say what motor is best....

Re: b18c1 gsr vs b18c5 type r (B18CivicEg)
well a real fully built Ls vtec can make a lot power my boy EG was dyno at 236WHP Ls vtec all motor he was running mid 13s on 15 inches wheels..anyways a fully built ls vtec may not be faster than a turbo gsr or it depends how the gsr is built im assuming it will be good..bcuz just dropping a turbo in your car is going to make you fly..but put it this way LS VTEC AND A GSR WITH THE SAME SET UP GOING ALL MOTOR OR GOING BOOST.LS VTEC IS PROVEN TO BE THE FASTER,CHEAPER AND IT CAN BE AS RELIABLE AS A GSR...
IF AM WRONG CORRECT ME ,COMMENT ME , OR IF ITS NOT CLEAR ENOUGH LET ME KNOW......
