B18C1 GSR JDM into my EJ6 hatch
Ok...first off, is there anything special header wise that I need to know about for a 1996+ OBDII GSR swap to be made to fit my 1997 Civic hatchbacks Magnaflow catback with cat delete pipe installed?
Secondly...anything wiring wise different...already converted my CX harness to accept the current SOHC VTEC d16Y8 swap thats installed right now...what else do I need to do aside from that and the engine mounts?

99-00 SI rear L bracket
99-00 SI driver side motor mount bracket
use ur civic harness and modify it to fit the gsr
if u are using the JDM ecu u dont have to worry bout emissions stuff, but if u use a USDM u will have to hook up secondary o2 sensor, CKF sensor, evap purge solenoid n something else i think. not sure bout ur magnaflow catback might be too short

Suprised to see this came so early in the post.
There is write ups about it or you could just remove them.

Only had to run two extra wires if your using the JDM ECU. Knock sensor and IAB like stated above.
Header will not be al problem. If your looking into buying one get one for the engine, not your car. i.e. buy a header for an integra gsr not a civic.

prolly just doesnt know that JDM engines dont have numbers in the engine code.

ahh..the honda knock sensor is trash IMO. by the time it catches something, the damage has been done.

Re: B18C1 GSR JDM into my EJ6 hatch (Hatch_Back_97)
i have a magnaflow from a eg on my ek hatch , and i just did this swap... i put a RSR gsr header on my jdm gsr and i had to extend the cat pipe about 6 inches and weld a o2 bung in it....since the RSR didn't have one

Ok, whats this about the IAB fix? Is there an article about this that you guys could link me to? Also, what about the shift linkage...can I hook it right up to my stock Civic hydraulic rods?

Re: (Hatch_Back_97)
Hydraulic rods?? Use the shift linkage from any b-series car except for the del so doch vtec. (it is too short.) Read in the FAQ at the top of the main page. Your IAB wire answer is there.

the IAB is a vaccum(at least it is on the h22) driven secondary butterflies. if you open up the plenum on the gsr IM(4 bolts I believe) you will se 8 little plates, 2 per cylinder. 4 of them(1 per cylinder) stay open constanly, the other 4 stay closed until you reach a certain RPM(3k or 4k rpm) the vacumm then opens the other 4 plates, I think its more for gas mileage than anything. there is rally no power to be gained by not hooking them up or removing them. if you dont hook up the IAB solenoid plug, all 8 will stay open contantly, and you will throw a CEL, you can remove them by opening the plenum up, and just simply taking the plates out. but you have to fill the holes where the bolts went with something, but its ALOT easier to wire up the IAB solenoid plug.

I understand what you're bitching about but he was trying to make it clear. Now, if he mention B18C we wouldn't know what the fukk he was talking about. Either B18c for type R or GSR. You see?

he said b18c1 JDM gsr...when he said gsr, we knew what he was talking about.

Re: (egcoupe94)
lol...quit bitching...I need this done not a flame war over whos got more brains., lol. I know B18C GSR is in Japan and B18C1 is here, I'm so used to B18C1 I used that to diffirentiate between Type R versus just GSR to amke sure no one got it confused. So...I do indeed need shift linakge...great, my shipper forgot to include that like he had promised before. Well, how do I hook up the IAB...you say its on the FAQ somewhere...what page?

Re: (ReDHaTcHyGuy)
Blox a good intake mani? Also, even if you swap out stock mani...won't it still look for the butterflys in the ECU?

actually it would be three wires - IAB is two, and Knock is one.
