Icon3 B18c1 code 15

So a couple wks ago I threw a code 9 (cyl 1) and replaced the dist. Car has been running fine until last night when it stalled on me while driving down US 19. And for anyone who knows US 19, that is not the best place to stall out on lol. Well now I'm trippin code 15 (ignition output signal). I can get the car to start but it bogs down and stalls after a few minutes of running. I've tried searching other forums, but I'm getting mixed results from the dist. and the ignition switch. Figured I'd ask on here, cuz you guys are usually riight on with the fix. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh and I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it didn't do it until it started raining. Drove for a good 2 hrs yesterday and as soon as the rain started is when the car started acting up!

Have you looked inside the distributor for water?

Did you install a used or aftermarket distributor?

Have you had the igniter unit tested?

Haven't checked for water. Used dist. but I'm going to just do a MSD anyways. And haven't tested the igniter yet. Still kinda new to the B18 swap so I'm learning as I go. Thanks.

Not a good idea.

No? Should I just stay with an OEM one instead?

Always. There's absolutely no benefit to the MSD, just problems.

--->Carefully inspect the distributor internals for moisture, corrosion, dust, and damage. Post pictures.
--->Resistance test the coil (see FAQs).
--->Have an auto parts store test the igniter unit.

Ok, thanks. Gonna finish checkin the dist. now. And I would have an auto parts store test it but I don't trust driving it. Now it's got a strong exhaust smell to it when it's running?

It's always best to use oem (stock) parts that honda/acura uses when they build the engine. I have a link that helped me with cel code 15.. i'll post it for you in a minute.

Thanks to HondaPartsGuy on HT. I swapped the igniter (foremost) and then the coil to deal with cel code 15.

FYI - A bad coil would not throw code 15.
