Default b18c1/c5 into EM1

search is not working for some odd reason believe me i hate to post stupid shiit like this.
im getting bored of my b16a2. it doesnt have the pull that was once acceptable. my question is not about how to do the swap but how does it feel to have either engine compared to the b16? also which motor is the best bang for the buck?

b18c1- cheaper and easier to find
b18c5- more power, prestigious engine and type rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr powa

but maybe with some bolt on and tuning the gsr can be just as good?

lmk, but please stay on subject and no corny post or arguments. i dont need a moderator to shut my thread down.

If power is what you're after, you'll be much better off spending the money on a serious upgrade to the B16, such as forced induction.

all the baller's on budgets will tell u gsr swaps but the jdm itr swap is clearly better for obvious reasons. if your planing just to do bolt ons go itr its more $ but well worth it and dont be sucked into just buy a gsr swap for cheaper and put the difference in money into buying parts for the gsr swap. if u do that you'll just have a gsr swap that will be slower than an itr anyway.

sorry i should have clarified on this. no turbo for me on this particular vehicle due to needing reliable transportation with good gas mileage on a daily basis

also going jdm would be make things more complicated when inspection time comes every year. i couldn't bare the thought of having to do "tricks" in order to beat the "system" every year.

personally I'd go with the C5 engine. It's a bit more than the C1, but since you have had this car for quite some time and probably plan on having it for a longer period after the swap, spend the money on the C5. I'm sure you can source a USDM C5 for a reasonable amount.

I know B18C5-EH2, one of the moderators, was selling his swap many months ago. Not sure if he still is.

If I had the funds I'd buy your B16A2 from you as a backup, but a 6 month old is keeping me quite occupied.

Complete B18C5(USDM) swaps are going to be hard to find. And you will probably pay a premium for it if you do find one. On top of that, if you want a completely legal swap, then you'll need a swap from 2000-01 ITR. Of which, there were supposedly only 2528 sold. Your best bet is to go poorman's B18CR, reusing your head and tranny to save on costs.

why not just get a gsr block since this is a em1 comes with b16 and get a gsr block throw some itr pistons in it and youre set to go throw on your b16 head and your set

with the leftover money get a valvetrain some cams and a tune and then start learning how to drive

again, id rather go with a completely stock engine due to simplicity in swap and function and i dont feel thats its worth running from the inspection man to obtain a few extra ponies through obd1 ecu's etc. if i go factory ill be 100% legit inspection time comes.

Get a USDM gsr and then you can bar/legalize the motor.
