B18C1 or B20b?
im trying to decide weather do get a gsr or a b20. like the fact that the gsr revs high, has vtec and has a **** load of potential. the only thing i dont like about it is the price tag for everything, its fairly expensive. i like the b20 cuz it has good torq, and is inexpensive . my friends seem to think that b20 is the way to get because you can buy it cheap and supposedly make it just as fast and everything that a gsr is. how do i know who is right? they just really look at the price tag, personally i dont care if i can afford it then ill do it, they think im stupid because i want a high reving motor that has vtec and i can build on. they say that its pointless to spend all that money on a completely stock motor that wont match our friends b20 wit a skunk2 manifold, and greddy header, with a little tuning. they say that the b20 can almost rev just as high(which is true) and produce the same outcome as a gsr. what do you guys think?

The only bad thing is yeah the b18c is going to be more expensive but i will bet you a lot of money that it will out last the b20 after you putting some kind of boost on it. You get what you pay for the more you pay more times than not it will be a lot better. I am looking for a gsr block for my 99 si right now. That block is money.

Gsr.
I wouldn't use nitrous on either.
For the money it's not that much bang for buck unless you build the motor, which will cost whatever will makeup the difference between turbo or a better swap..
Just save for the gsr.
If you are impatient get an LS motor and boost it.

do what you want not what others tell you. the gsr is def better, has vtec, revs higher. but the b20 has more stroke which isnt always the best but the money you save buying the b20 you can mildly build it and buy a vtec head to bolt on and spank the **** out of a gsr. just my opinion

Gsr is what Id choose. However, you could use the money youve saved by buying the b20 to buy bolt ons. But, the Gsr would repond better to those bolt ons.

b20 vtec, otherwise just get a GSR or if you want to pay less for your SWAP build a Ls/vtec it makes a lil more power than a GSR, but its more of a headache..

It is, and you have to do it right to make it reliable. GSR for much less headache.

Hmm... Stock B18c1 for 4k
orrrr b20 on 10 psi for 5k.
My b20 ran a 12.3 on 11 psi spinning tires until the end of third. C1 might let you have a 14.5 if your lucky.
Dont let people tell you not to get something, most of them have never experienced the almighty b20 turbo Just because the gsr is the god of honda b series

Re: (big-cat)
^^ nice... yeah, boosting a D or a B18b(LS) would be two other great choices if you are looking for good power on a nice budget. for the price of building a reliable CRV-tec or a GSR swap(no build) you can have a reliable turbo car pushing 200whp easy. But if you dont want boost as your option I would go with the GSR like Ek forever said to save you less headache.

if your budget is 4k as you say IMO i'd go LS turbo. A complete swap is probably around 1k, which leaves you with 3k for a piece your own turbo & maybe a tune. Way more fun and faster than a stock gsr swap.

i love my b18c1... however, you could get a d, built and boosted for $4000, and spank a gsr, b20vtec, or anything else that you might think about swapping and boosting stock...
