1.8L ........ if you can afford it. why would you want to start out with less power and tq if you can afford the GSR?

On a stock turbo kit, either is fine. Once you get going as far as further boosting, it depends on how the motor is built. I have heard though that the B16 is better for F/I because of it's shorter stroke length.

Less stress on longer rods (or stroke) that is. At least that is what I have heard.

B18C1

edit: and yes, the b16a has an almost perfect rod/stroke ratio. but its not like the gsr's is bad ( too lazy to look up actual specs for the ratios)

how much have you thought about this? If you're going to run a lot of boost and do it right, why bother with a b18c? Get a non vtec b18 and save a lot of money to spend elsewhere, no use in having turbo and vtec engagement points.

Yeah, I mean who wants more power anyway, that's just silly.

Go with the B18C1
You can get more power out of the B18C1 then just he B18B. Better top-end also.
If you want to turbocharge it..The B18C1 will also be better. Just throw on a B16 head for the combustion chamber.

vtec is just a way of getting power while keeping the standard honda "commute to work and college" driving style the same. VTEC doesn't do a single thing that a bet
ter cam wouldn't do except keep the idle more civil. If he wants more boost and power, you're going to get more per $ building up the important parts of a B18b than paying for a c.

It doesn't matter... you shouldn't be spending money on anything until you're informed enough to make your own decisions.

If he doesn't know wich one is better and what setup is best he can't build an engine.

Better gearing, more compression to help with lag, more power in the higher rpm. I understand you prefer the LS motor, I prefer the GSR. It's faster stock, and if he's just throwing on a Greddy Kit, it will be faster boosted.

i think that in the top end its going to be just about the same but for daily driving low end the gsr's torque will hands down be awsome but thats just my opinion...

It doesn't matter what I like, and I don't know what is geared differently. Yes more compression will help the lag, it will also hurt the boost, I'm just saying if you're really wanting to up the boost, consider non vtec.

GSR and LS trannys are geared differently. More compression won't hurt the boost at all with proper tuning, not that GSR motors have super high compression anyway. And I didn't see where he said he was upping the boost substantially, just that he wanted to bolt on a Greddy kit.

You're an idiot. Not only do the VTEC heads have much more agressive cams which will make more power, they flow much, much better than the LS head does. a Fully ported LS head is on par with a stock VTEC head in terms of flow, port the VTEC head and you leave the LS in the dust.
