sure itd be worth it. There significantly quicker then the sohc setups (so long as there not built and or turbocharged). And for the price they are fairly cheap. Considering what it costs to get a b18c1 or c5. I got mine from a friend who wrecked his teg. gave him $320 and i pulled the thing myself. i also took the ecu, wiring, gauge cluster, and cluster plugs. so i think it was a pretty ok deal lol.

you can always turbo or go all motor with the mini me its less cost effective and cheaper than a b18b1 swap since you already have the motor tranny ecu and everything in the car to make it running you should go turbo or all motor/nitrous on the mini me parts are more avalible also if you blow up a block its only 60 bucks thats including core charge at my local junk yard and there are tons of d15's and even z6 and y8 motors complete

A stock LS would be decent enough for a DD in your hatch. Good enough power and torque. But tryng to not spend $1k for the whole ordeal. Well don't know about that, unless your swapping the motor in yourself, which I doubt. Or you have someone to do the swap for cheap or for free. But remember your spending $$ on the motor swap, and labor/install if doing it through a mechanic/shop.

Your lookin to spend anywhere from ~$500-1100 for a complete LS swap, then another ~$400-1k for labor(mechanic). Plus another couple hundred for maintenance, tune-up, and maybe some minor mods. So I'm pretty sure you'll be spending more then $1k. Not saying it'll be spent all at once, but totaling more then the amount of $1k.

Then later in the future, once you've gained more knowledge about motors, etc. You can start thinking of going a different route. LS-T, LS-VTEC, All-motor LS, those are just a few things to consider later down the line.

what this guy said^ it cost me just shy of 1,500 for everything all said and done to do the b18b1 swap into my 91 hatch. and thats with me getting the engine itself for quite cheap, and also doing all labor and install on my own.

i got me a 98 b18b w/5psd tranny and axles for $930 plus tax out of a reputable salvage yard here in SC. I had to get the ecu for another $100, but I did all the work myself, so I saved a ton. Swapping in is STRAIGHT FORWARD and EASY.

I got lucky and found a 92 hatch with the complete B18B1 changeover running in impound yard from title pawn place for 230.00.
I can't get title for the car, but I found another perfect 93 hatch for 2900.00, and I'll do the changeover myself.
I have fired and driven the repo car around the neighborhood, and it runs great, and everything I need is there.
Got to get rid of the humongus fart can though.
Maybe I can sell the perfect B15B7 for 300 or so, and recoup money from swap.
Watch your local repo and wrecking yards.
There was a 94 LS teg there a month ago for 700.00. Rough body, no title, but sounded great.
Wrecker services sell off cars that no one picks up after a while for wrecker bill/storage also.
