Hi ht, It's my first engine swap and I just finished swapping a b18b1 into my civic. I fired it up today and took it for a drive and it's feeling extremely slow. When
I bought the motor the guy promised me that it's fine and good to go so let's hope that is the case. I believe the issue is that i'm re-using the old wiring harness and ecu that came in the civic so there could be wrong sensors or wrong mapping. Yes the engine is good on oil and yes my engine is timed correctly and sounds really good as well. If I open the throttle in neutral I can feel the power there it's just not delivering it to the wheels. If you guys could help speed up this issue that would be appreciated!

You're not able to feel any power when revving in neutral.

You have to run the correct ecu... or if it is a programmable one, you have to load the correct calibration for your new engine.

So this is the ecu im running from the civic but i do have the one that came with the engine, its a p75 but the harness was all cut up. I did order a chip it that will help??

8k? Yeah you def have something wrong because the rev limiter for a b18b is less than that.

It is an OBD2A ECU and harness running the car... The ecu that came with the engine was a p75 OBD2B

The smaller connector for the OBD2A controlled my fuel and the connector wouldn't fit the OBD2B which is why I'm using the OBD2A ecu



Could I just chip the OBD2A ecu and run some sort of basemap? not to sure on this stuff yet. Thanks!

No turbo yet. Hopefully eventually I will once I know more about everything. I just installed the manifold and waste gate because that is all I had. For now I want to work out all the issues!

Yeah something defiantly wrong. The engine I bought seperatly came with a chewed up harness and p75 OBD2B ECU which the small connector from my harness (Controlled fuel pump) wouldn't fit into which is why I stuck with the original OBD2A ecu and harness that came with the car. Could I chip the ecu and run some sort of base map? Not to sure how that works... Thanks for the replys!

you don't do **** like that. also you need to fix the crank sensor wiring as well.

Also just as an FYI, you can't chip OBD2 ecu's whether A or B. only OBD1 ECU's can be chipped which of course means a wire harness conversion.

OBD-2A P75 ECU's are common and inexpensive. Make sure you find a manual one... although this will be a temporary fix since you intend to go turbo. You ultimately will need an OBD-2A -> OBD-1 harness adapter and an OBD-1 ECU that is tuneable.

Thanks @TomCat39 and @JRCivic1 a I just bought a OBD2A HArness adapter for OBD1, Im just going to use my stock harness that came with the civic and plug it into a obd1 from the junkyard!

So the ECU you intend to use will be a '94-95 Acura Integra LS/RS/GS manual one ??? In layman's terms, this would be an OBD-1 B18B ECU. The factory part number(s) would be 37820-P74(P75)-A01 or A02.

If i can find that one at the junkyard ill definitely get that, Could I also just install an obd1 out of a civic and chip it then run some sort of base map?

Assuming that you can get a quality basemap on a chip from a reputable source... yes. I suggest Pherable or Xenocron... not some jack-leg claiming to have a "high performance B18B Mugen chip" on Ebay for $25 shipped.
