Default B18b Oil Questions

ok i have a 95 b18b there is about 161,000 on it and it work like u wouldent beleave, has lots of power, doesent tick, knock bang or anything, but the one thing that i did notice was that i was using a large amount of oil. the car isnet leaking it on the ground, it doesent smoke or anything liek that at about 5000 km from my last oil change i put in about 1 1/2 liters maybe more, i figure that i will have put close to 2L by the time it comes to do the next oil change. Is this regular for this kind of motor at this many KM??? i was also noticing that there was small amounts of oil shoing up under my rad cap and in my over flow tank. now i dont know if this is from my old engine that blew up or if its getting in else where. i did a compression test and it came up 185,185,185,190. the guy at the motor rebuild shop where i had it done said that maybe it could be beacuse of the oil cooler??? does anyone know of any cases where they were getting oil in there anti-freeze cause of a bad oil cooler??? any help would be nice!! thanks

Some paragraphs might help next time...

It sounds as though your motor is definitely consuming some oil. If you need an explanation on how this is happening, I would be glad to explain. I am guessing piston ring(s).

Oil in your coolant or vice versa is not really a good thing. It could be possible signs of a bad, or failing headgasket. Somewhat hard to make a judgement on the info you gave, just my first guess.

the oil cooler is not really a common problem, it is just coolant lines that run through over by the oil filter... not much that can go wrong there. i have a hunch that you are just burning some oil through the valve seals.

usually its only noticeable when you have to add oil every couple days. something like yours probably wouldnt be noticeable by visible smoke. my friends car is the same: no obvious smoke or leaks, but it eats up oil.

i also forgot about how you mentioned the oil on the cap and in the overflow.... you may have some serious issues, but hopefully its from the previous blown engine?

Id say either way you may be due for at least an upper end rebuild.
