B18b LS to EJ2 swap not starting (firing is correct, have spark, and have fuel)
I just got done an OBD-1 B18b swap into my EJ2. The motor was pulled running but it was sitting for about a month or so and added fresh oil, new spark plugs, and newer spark plug wires to start it up.
Plugged in the P06 (forgot the p75) and went to crank and it seemed like it didn't have juice to start... so we jumped it and never started.
After pulling the spark plugs we had fuel so I put a plug in it.. had a friend crank it and saw a little bit of spark against the frame...
The first place I want to check it replacing the dizzy cap/rotor tomorrow and trying there... but it seemed like the motor drained the battery hardcore when trying to crank.
I need help asap!!!!!!!!!!!!
*pic because nobody opens a topic without a pic anymore*

I had the same problem, i was getting fuel and spark. and i know the timing was fine. and thats the only 3 things that run a engine. the injectors were getting power when i checked but weren't opening. turns out i forgot a simple damn connector plug from the engine to the car harness.

i'll try looking into that or any other plugs on the engine harness as well as the grounds

Re: (The Lobster)
There are 2 major grounds and 1 minor. 1 on the thermostat housing with a 10 mm another on the from the frame wall to the transmission. The last is the small one from the Driver side Radiator support to the valve cover. Check also check your harness plugs like they said it happens.
The dizzy can be spun in reverse Ive seen people FORCE it on remember 1 side is a little thicker than the other. You by no means should force it on.

The T-stat ground seems to be my culprit for right now. it might not have had enough spark or fuel for combustion (hopefully the motor isn't bad either )
the wire with the ring comes from the harness right? it's not coming from the fuse cables? just want to make sure before i get to my friend's house later on

Re: (mattyv)
Update:
I changed the dizzy cap/rotor (the rotor was worn completely)
Tried cranking with a jump and heard a good amount of popping coming from the engine like it was trying to fire something with some gassy smelling smoke.
Finally after a few attempts there was a screeching and check the oil to find all my new 3 quarts were empty. The spark plugs also showed oil on them.
It's too dark for a compression test but my friend and I are pretty sure the ring seals are blown wide open (the motor has over 200k on it)
