b18b in del sol with B16 TRANNY!!!
well i got the cash for the ls swap i wanted.. im putting it in a 94 del sol vtec.. thats the model with the b16.. im using the tranny from the b16 to make good use of the torque.. ive been sittin in my room for a while now lookin at all the posts on b16 vs b18b and everything about the trannys and i could give a **** less about gas mileage! its gonna be fun to drive it.
Anyway on with the post. the swap is a b18b obd-1. Am i going to have to make any MAJOR changes to the stock wiring harness that was in the car from the b16? the motor im getting has the wiring harness from the firewall up im assuming. any chance of that pluggin right up? Might be a dumb question i ono .. this is my first b-series swap..
Also, the motor is gonna have anywhere from 25,000 to 35,000 miles on it.. would it be safe to chip the ecu with it mostly stock.. its gonna be bone stock almost for a little while. what would be a safe rpm to rev to? keeping in mind that the b18b power band falls off pretty quick.. or should i just go ahead and get a stock p75 or pr4-same thing.
Feel free to comment if you feel im dumb for doing this swap into the targa top del sol which is quite a heavy little bitch weighing in at 2522 curb weight. mine has no ac, no power steering. thanks for any help in advance!

dood do a LS vtec. y would you swap out your b16 for a LS. yeah the ls has more tq but the b16 will have more top end. just pick up a ls block and swap the head on that and you have yourself a LS vtec

If everything is obd1 then the harness should be plug n' play. Did a swap, 95 ls from an auto into a 93 delsol si; used the auto harness; and everything was plug n' play. I used a p75.
As for the rev limit... transmission dosen't matter, the long block itself still has it's rev limit. In your case 6800rpms. I find shifting just as i pass 6k fine.

one more question.. i read on a site that a jdm motor with the harness wont plug into a usdm harness because the jdm being right side drive the plugs will be on the opposite side of where they should be.. is this true and if so what is the fix? thanks.
