B18b or d16y7 turbo? WWJD??
What would you do: trade your turbo d16 for a B18b or keep it? My friend is thinking about trading his turbo for a b18b. I say he should wait for a B16 or B18C. What's your opinion on this matter? He has until the end of this week to decide. thanks

I second that. Boost is more fun.

Re: B18b or d16y7 turbo? WWJD?? (Honda Kustums)
We live out here in cali so he wants to go smog legal. Is there any hope with a b18b with a greddy kit on it? That's smog legal I think... His D16 has a DRAG kit on it so it can't pass for anything.

It think it depends on what he is goin to do in the future. If he wants a powerplant that will handle power better and he plans on spending more money on his engine I think the b18 would do better but if he dosent want to spend a lot of money right away and just add on stuff along the way the old D should do just fine.turbo d's are nice I would pick it over a stock b18 any day of the week.

Re: B18b or d16y7 turbo? WWJD?? (allmtr: now at 95%)
allmtr, If you're going allmotor, do you have to put a stroker kit in to have it considerd allmotor? I was talking to a guy @ Walmart the other day and said that exactly- "you have to put in a stroker kit in order to allmotor" was this guy bullshitting, or did he know what he was talking about?

All-Motor = No forced induction.
Forced Induction = Nitrous, Turbo, Supercharger.
You do not need a stroker kit to be considered all motor. As long as you do not have a Forced Induction of any kind, you are all motor.

no! he's talking out his ***. all motor is specifically the fact that your ALL MOTOR!! no turbo, no nos, no SC... etc... a stroker crank may help in making power and torque, but its not a must. i have friends that are all motor b16s and have a very built head and still remain 1.6. it mashes hard and beats many of the cars out there. a bigger stroke would make it an allmotor 1.8, instead of an all motor 1.6.... duh
so tell him hes dumb and so forth...

Good thread I was thinking the samething.
I've gotta y7 right now w/ y8 IM. Was thinking of finishing the mini-me and just boosting it. But for the price and power of a LS i'm in the situation where i dunno which is a better route to go.
LS:
-Good motor to build on
-alot of power for the price.
-more reliable then boosting
y7 Boosted:
-more power
-BOV
hmmmm..
