b18a1 swap for my civic

does anyone reccomend this swap? would it be hard? i mean, are there parts for a swap like this? my cousin has a wrecked 93 teg with the motor and im trying to figure out if this swap is doable/easy enough for a couple of motorheads and a knowledgeable honda figure to do. i kno ill need a new radiator and hoses (front end wreck, no engine damage) i hear the engine makes good power, but i want to know what ill need to pull from the teg to make it work in my civic. id also like to kno what ill have to have fabricated, what ill have to buy, and a roundabout number on how much this will cost me. also, if anyone has turboed this setup...lemme kno;) . thanks for your help guys, id appreciated it

yea it depends on if u like the cable or hydraulic clutch also and i heard that it feels weird driving the cars with the conversion kit but i guess u can get used to it.. and the cable tranny is cheaper and easier to find. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif no worries either way..

Actually everyone tells me how smooth my clutch feels, considering it's a stage 3. Either way...yes it is more work to get the A1 in there, but if it's all you've got to work with [like in my case and how his case sounds - getting the motor out of a family member's car], it can be done.

You'll need:

*Cable to hydro conversion -or- a hydro tranny. Don't go buy the conversion HA Sport sells...contact me and I'll tell you how to make your own.

*B-Series throttle cable.

*94+ Teg rear mount bracket

*OBD-1 DOHC Distributor

*OBD-1 ECU [P75]

*94+ Teg axles

*DOHC Del Sol VTEC AC Bracket [if retaining AC]

*DOHC Del Sol VTEC Driver mount & Bracket [or use aftermarket mounts]

*94+ Teg exhaust manifold, or have the A1's manifold modified [what I did initially].

I think that's it. If you have any questions about it man, feel free to ask through PM's or email.

^^^so basically pull the motor and tranny, the ecu and the throttle cable. how will i know what kind of tranny it is? how much fabricating is involved in this swap? is all of this going to bolt right up? or am i going to have to get to know someone in metal working? oh yea and what kind of problems do you have with your swap? electrical? vaccuum? anything at all? this motor im pulling has 200k on it and i wanna at least replace some parts...i was thinkin a port n polish, some new cams, and some new pistons...anything else you would reccomend?

PS---its a 96 ex im trying to swap into

Re: (civic_stunna)

Search for your answers...I don't know much about swapping into an OBD-2 car.

Pretty sure there won't be any fabrication necessary.

I have had no problems with my swap...until recently when I boosted it.

Replace all the small parts - distributor cap, rotor button, thermostat, spark plugs, water pump, timing belt, engine oil & filter, tranny oil, any leaky gaskets, etc...

No, that header won't work [it's for a GSR]...you need a 94-01 LS header [don't buy a DC Styles header either, they suck...I know from experience]

Yes, those mounts will work.
