b18 type r in a 4 door 99 lx sedan?? will it work?
hi i have a 4 door 1999 civic lx with the stock d16 aand i was just wonderin if anyone has ever put a b18 type r in one of these...and please dnt tell me other engines i should think of putting in because i am 100% sure wat i want i just want to know if its possible... i am just curious as to what kind of changes i will have to make and will i have to put in stiffer springs/shock etc to compensate for the power i would prefer not to lower it because i live in upstate ny and the roads arnt the greatest and i drive out into farm roads on occasion but will it be neccessary to be lowered?? thanks for all the help
-ps does anyone know the official hp for this engine iv done alot of research and they range from like 185 to 215 lol just wonderin if anyone knows for sure...

I believe the only real big difference is going to be B-series engine mounts, but I'm not sure if the Type-R uses something different from the LS/GSR motor.
But I KNOW the mounts will have to be different.

ok and iv read alot of places if you wanna go with a turbo to go with the gsr cuz its easier to boost but is it possible to do a turbo setup with the type r?? and if so will i have to completely overhaul the engine to doit?? oh also i was wondering if the type r will be as reliable as my previous honda it was a 98 lx it had 280k miles on it before i sold it to a guy he still drives it around lol and its been a little over a year, will it be as long lasting and reliable??

Do NOT boost any type r motor. They are high compression and you'll end up blowing something. For the type r (b18c5) you need mounts use like hasport with the 3 post left hand mount, b series axels and b series linkage for any 92-00 civic. You'll need to wire your vtec/knock sensor and pressure switch. You can look at chase bays or rywire. Rywire is cheaper and does a great job but if you want that nice tucked look go with chasebays. As far as suspension, your stock suspension will be fine but if it was me I'd go with koni yellows with stock springs, or a nice full coil over setup and adjust it the height you want. But any b series into any 88-00 civic is basically plug and play with a few minor mods, fairly simple if you have some kind of auto experience. Just find a nice how to on motorswaps. As far as wiring there are tons of DIY post floating around. Good luck and have fun!!

B18c5 has a comp. ratio of 11.1:1 if you do boost don't push it and like above stated get a good tune. My personal opinion is don't boost (but it's your build), if you wanna boost something, do it to an ls or gsr. (ls is an integra motor b18b/a non vtec, gsr is also an integra b18c1 but with vtec) I had a buddy boost a c5 that had hondata and it was super fast but had to rebuild down the road. No matter what you get and what you boost make sure it's got a good tune and your air/fuel supply is top notch.
