Default B18 in EK. What Else?

I'm about to swap in an OBDII B18 (non vtec) into my 97 HX shell. I have:

Civic EX ECU (will this work?)
B Series Inovative Motor Mounts
B18 Motor
B18 Tranny

Also, the brakes dont work on my car (only Ebrake) I have integra rear brakes (swapped the ebrake cable so they work) is it because there is not motor? or..

What do I need for axels? anything else? I have my stock Wiring harness. Are there any good places for refrence? I've searched, and cant find exactly what I need.

any info would be great! thanks!

Oh and is could someone post pictures of LS Swaps in EKs? Just so I have something to refrence off of. Im trying to teach myself all the things Ive always sent cars away for.

I dont think a single cam ECU from the EX will run a dual cam motor.

Your brakes should still work if everything is still hooked up.

Your stock wiring harness should work. You will need the axles that go with the motor. You will also need the ecu that goes with the motor. Think about it man. The EX is single cam and your motor is dual cam... the EX is Vtec and yours is not.

you also need b'series shift linkage the rear "L" bracket from a 99-00 Si and the side mount that goes onto the block from a 99-00 Si.

it will, my p28 runs my gsr, BUT, thats a vtec ecu, you will have cels for vtec pressure, spool valve, and if it is an obd1 engine, ckf, secondary 02, maybe evap.

Its an OBDII Motor. Can I use any Bseries Transmission?

I have Bseries motor mounts, am I still going to need that side bracket you mentioned?

Can the axels be from any B18, ordoes it have to be the exact same motor type?

and do you guys have anymore pictures? thanks agian!

Yes any B-series tranny.
You will need the T rear tranny mount of an 99-00 SI.
I almost positive all b16-b18 axles will work.

you need the rear 99 civic si bracket mount (T or L looking thingy)
you need to change the driver side bolt that holds the mounts to a 99 civic si also
I believe any B series axel will work if not get an integra axel
Use your stock harness on your hx and plug and play.
use the ls ecu because its non vtec and its cheap!

If this HX started out life as an automatic you're proper screwed, because the tranny bracket that is welded to the passenger frame rail is completely different from all other 96-00 civic chassies.

Anyways other than that nobody else has mentioned that the primary o2 sensoir wiring will have to be completely redone because the HX uses a 5-wire primary o2 that won't jive with the LS 4-wire sensor.

well since your o2 sensor plug is a 5 pin and not a typical 4 pin plug, then that means your going to have to find a 4 pin plug cap, find a diagram for the o2 sensor wires for a ls ecu (4 pin) and a hx ecu (5 pin,) rewire the 5 pin wires and move it to the correct 4 pin wire position for the ls ecu, leave 1 pin wire unplugged or you can save it later for something else, solder the new 4 pin plug cap to the wires that you rewired and voila!! LOL its hard to explain online but if I can draw a picture its pretty easy to understand. maybe..

My Civic was LS VTEC before I bought it, so I assume that the wiring harness has already been modified? What plug do I look at to check?

Also, where and what does the T bracket look like? Hopefully they left that on.

I gotta say, you all are SUPER helpful. Gotta love it! =]

oh ls vtec? thats perfect because all the mods are already done.. you probably already have the T bracket. its the one on the back of the motor. Its black and its holding your motor mounts. also do you know where your o2 sensors are located? one on the downpipe of the headers and the other behind the cat. check the one on the downpipe and look at the plug. check how many wires you see coming out of the plug. I beleive there should be 4. 2 black and 1 white an the other green. or two different colors. I think your set buddy.

if it was ls/vtec before is there any shift linkage in it. not sure how much of a shell you got but if so then you may already have b-series linkage in there. so you could scratch that off ya list.
