B17A1 question
I did a B17 swap in my 93 Del Sol using JDM obd1 P72 ECU. The problem is the car not seem to pull at all, I feel like the timing is retart. When I try my friend P28, and a chipped P72 w/out knock sensor the car run way better than the JDM P72. My question is...it is the knock sensor that cause all this problem?
Thanks for any help

the p72 DOES NOT look for butterflies. it can control them and is optimized to run with them.

Re: B17A1 question (HIStateEG6)
butterflies are in the manifold of the obd2 gsr's... just get another ecu
I may have a stock '92 GSR ecu if u want... it's a p61

Re: B17A1 question (NUB-96EK)
so the sencondary butterflies only exist on the 94+ GSR manifold? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by NUB-96EK »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">butterflies are in the manifold of the obd2 gsr's... just get another ecu

Re: B17A1 question (silverEH2)
I'm a little confuse now....I have a P72 which control IAB, and I have a B17 manifold which does not have an IAB or secondary runner? So without an IAB I'm lossing some low end torque...In order to make the P72 happy I need to get all the IAB system from the B18C1 and hook it up? or like "Ricey McRicerton" said to install patented "Butterfly net" what is that anyway and where can I find that?
Thanks

Re: B17A1 question (HIStateEG6)
wait a minute...I got carried away with all these IAB stuff...there is one thing that I don't understand...when I tried the P72 on two of my friend car w/B16 (one is 92-95 JDM B16 and the other is B16A2) both car ran find without hesistation. I've been searching on H-T about IAB topic and everyone is saying that IAB only have on B18C1 and H22. So why does the B16 run find with my P72 and i can't run my B17 with it?
BTW: I've tried both P28 and a chipped USDM p72 and they both run better on my car. Well I can get a P28 and chipped it out, but I just want to know why my car bogging out badly in low end. Could it be the VTEC x-over point is too low on the JDM P72 (I believe the x-over point is about 4500-5000 rpm; not too sure if this ECU was chipped though )

Re: B17A1 question (integlspwr2k)
on a budget...of course
I know it is an odd ball of Honda motor...but it's a DOHC VTEC...and on top of all motor is motor; wether it's a black sheep or common, if you can get it to run right then it'll be a good challenge for yourself

Re: B17A1 question (CA6VTEC)
c'mon guys motor is a motor...as long it can produce the power to your expectation then it a motor of choice...some people said that B17 is a black sheep because it not as popular as the B18C, and only in production between 92-93 as oppose to the B18C which widely availble from 94-00. B17 is basically the same as B18C just smaller displacement and lower compression.
