yes you can put a ls head on a b16a block.. people do it all the time..
throw in a crx with 150 shot you got a cheap track car..

I believe B16, B17 and Type-R all share the same head (Type-R has mild factory porting).
GSR is different than the rest. It will still bolt on, but your compression will change.

the gs-r heads are not interchangeable due to the dual butterfly in the intake manifolds.
also i think the b16a head has more compression then the b17

b16a,b17a,b18c5 are the same heads and then dont add more compression.
only the gsr(b18c1)will add .2 of compression
