B16b query..
hey im pretty familiar with most of the swaps done in the honda community but not to many people in my area (deep south texas) have done any B16b swaps into their cars.. everybody ops for the b16a or b18c.. i wanted to go with the Btype cuz it was somethin new for these parts.. anyways.. has anybody done the swap and how was the turn out and what did you go through u know like little things.. anyways any post would be greatly appreciated.. thanx in advance!!

its just like any other swap, just a more top end power than a b16a, if you can find one for $3000 or less i say grab it.

quick acceleration with the shorter gears
VTEC FTW baby!
you can spend a couple grand getting an LS to perform like a VTEC or just buy a VTEC setup

The B18B has a 12 ft-lb. torque advantage over the B16B, but makes over 40 fewer hp and has less advantageous gearing. It's not as costly, but it certainly will not result in a faster car (in stock form).

b18b faster than a b16b... umm i think not. I'm willing to bet the tranny alone would be the determining factor not to mention the b16b makes an additional, what, 45 hp? And don't even bring that torque argument up because we all know here that HP is a function of torque and rpm.
Do what's best in your budget. Try to think of what you want to have a few years down the road. I would have saved a lot of money had i known what i wanted in 2 years. And then experience it. Find friends with the motors, drive their cars (althoguh finding something with a civic type r motor will probably be difficult), make decisions for yourself ya know?

hey thanx for the response.. im glad someone finally got around to it.. i had my eye on this setup for a while but i was a bit worried because everyone seems to say just go with the ITR instead of the CTR, but down here in deep south texas nobody has messed with a b16b but there has been a couple of ITR motors drivin around.. so i wanted to try this out.. plus i have an ek hatch so i wanted to stay tru to its model you know.. and i dont have the paper for a kseries so b16b FTW!!
