You don't need to buy ITR valves to run CTR cams.

It is my understanding that if you are going to stay under the factory rev limit you will be fine with stock springs and such with your CTR cams. That is the plan I am going with right now anyways.

I agree. A few of my friends have run CTR's on their stock B16 heads. I personally ran CTR's for a few years on a GSR head, just doubled up on the exhaust valve springs, and revved it to 8600.

I think with CTR cams, ITR valve springs are just more of an insurance thing. If it was me, I wouldn't want to risk binding at all...I would like the piece of mind of being able to take the engine up to high rpm without worrying about my springs. But that's just me *shrug*
jrthecow311: here are some old pics and mods. A few things have changed since then. Should have some new pics and stuff up soon though.

Re: (LSpimpTEC)
stock valvetrain is fine as long as you stay under the factory b16a redline. type-r motors use stiffer valve spring because they are made to rev higher, or the springs allow them to rev higher, either way, you get the idea

Re: (akumaracer)
I know lots of people running ctr cams skunk stage ones and other like cams, with nothing else but cam gears. revving between 8200 and 8500 pretty reg with no problems at all. ( I would recommend valve adjustments a little more often than normal ) You should be fine

Re: (stuckatworksi)
okay here ya go, you can easily run the CTR cams with completly stock valve train at normal rpm range, We run them in a local car up to 8700, No problems. They will give you one heck of a jump when the vtec engages... What I am wondering if anybody has dropped the engagement point with any luck

I try'd it but the car did not like it put it back too stock . Maybe if you play with the fuel you could make it work but I think the car will still bog a little. Good luck
