b16b but no vtec
i have a 97 hatch with a ctr swap. but i have no vtec. back when i had the ctr in my em1 i was only able to hit vtec on a p06 ecu with a chip. but the ctr ecu that hmotorsonline supplied me with in accordence with the motor will not allow me to hit vtec. it didnt work in the em1 and now it doesnt work in my hatch. since i have swapped the ctr into the hatch i changed the wiring harness back to the ctr harness that came with the motor when i got it. and now i cant even hit vtec on the chipped p06. my speed sensor is hooked up so is the rev senser. i have an o2 senser on the header but i dont have one on the test pipe but i dont think that should matter but idk about the jdm computers . i do have a check engine light at the moment. but in my em1 when i had my b16a2 in there i had a check engine light the whole time and still was able to hit vtec all day long

Re: b16b but no vtec
what trim is your civic? dx or ex?
if its dx you gotta wire up the vtec because even with a vtec ecu it wont pop since the dx harness does not have the wiring for the vtec solenoid not vtec pressure switch.

like slowhatchcali said check your check engine light codes. you will need an obd2 scanner. you can try to see if autozone or kragen still rent them out or buy one.

in the passenger side for a two pin connector, i think its a green plug, not too sure on ek's, but its not hard to spot... once you find that clip get a paper clip and jump the two pins then read the code

Re: b16b but no vtec
sure.. you jump it, switch the ignition to the "ON" position....
it'll start throwing the codes(light blinking) ... each blink has a value 1 or 10.. a short blink equals 1 and a long blink equals 10.. so say you get one long blink and 7 short ones with no pauses in between, thats code 17(vss) ... if you have multiple codes there will be a pause in between codes untill all the codes are displayed then it'll it do it over again ...
