Recently did the timing belt on my 94 del sol with a b16a3 in it. The intake cam had retarded itself by 1 tooth before i did the new belt so i had stopped driving it for a week. Now that i did the entire new belt by the book and moved the intake cam back to where it belongs my engine runs pretty good except i have some high end issues.

I hit vtec fine and it pulls hard all the way from a stop to around 6500rpm where vtec just randomly decides to cut out and then come back.


I did discover a leak between my intake manifold and Throttle body but i dont think that is the problem because it leaked there before i did the belt and it ran great.


anything you suggest i look for or try to get it fixed?

fix that air leak. it may not be the problem but it still is a problem and thats unmetered air getting in/out. as for why it cuts vtec out im not really sure.

check your oil level? this happened to me with my gsr. Burnt oil until it got to that exact point where it would have enough oil pressure at one point, then not enough a little later...
