Default B16A3 Swap / Tuneing in general

Well I'm out of high school, workin' full time. Never really got into cars in high school, mostly because my parrents were lame and made me drive a minivan, that lasted about 2 weeks, after I drove it into a concrete barrier to spite my parretns.

Anyway, now that I'm out, recently bought a del sol, and some of my friends are tryin' to get me into throwing all this after market **** on it.

I've been doing alot of research into suprisingly, but I'm still kind of "Iffy"

I'm just a daily driver after all, been doing mostley cosmetic work, put SI seats in, installed the OEM spoiler, plan on getting a lip, and some rims next week.

Haven't touched anything mechanical wise - as of yet.

I've got a 96 S, D16Y7. And Loving the MPG, wishing I had a Vtec though

My first question is, would it be meaningless to swap a b16a3 into my car? What kind of MPG do they get?

And my 2nd question is, should I even bother putting money into the performance side of things? I mean I'm not really going to be racing, if anything just a hobby.

I know I'm going to be doing more cosmetic work, but cosmetic w/o performance = rice?

Still have alot of research to do indeed, but just want to know what people think, would it be more toruble then its worth?

thanks for the help in advanced!

cosmetic without performance definitely does not equal rice as long as you pick the right cosmetics for the car as for the b16 swap yes and no.. depends on you. its gonna be about $2500 ish after its all said and done for that motor and dont get me wrong its nice but for about another $700 you could drop a gsr in it but then if your not really gonna be racing you could always just stick to cosmetic and save a lot of cash

i still get pretty good mileage for my b16a sir ii into my eg. but i dont have any engine mod except header and intake and rear end exhaust.if u are talking about spend money on your d series engine for performace gain. i say dont waste your money unless u are going turbo or supercharger. most people would say do a nice cam.cam ger.piston .rods. blah blah blah. u will see and feel the performance..but think about money u will be invested in and also labor.

Yeah I've been doin' the research and I will not be dumping money into my curent engine, which is why I was going with the B16, cheapest b series, HOPEFULLY still gets good MPG, has a Vtec and decent power behind it for the occasions when some *** wants to run up on me

Just not sure if its pratical or not
