-B16A3-Questions....
I have been reading about the B16A3 engine and am a little confused.
So far I have found that it came in the 94-97 DelSol Si?
That it also came in the JDM Civic SiR?
That it came with 158hp in the Del Sol and 168hp in the Civic?
How much of this is true?
How do I tell the difference between the JDM and the USDM motor?
Is $1800 a good price for a supposed JDM motor with 40K Miles?
Thanks.
Oh and how hard of a swap is it into a 95 CX

$1800 sounds about right for what b16's go far, but that's first gen cable tranny ones, not hydro.
As for swapping, SEARCH!. Must be hundreds of posts on swapping B's into 95 cx eggs.

The B16A3 only came in the '94-95 del Sol VTEC (not the del Sol Si, and not '96-97 models). It is an OBD-1 USDM engine.

The B16A3 from the del Sol was rated at 160hp. The '92-95 Civic SiR engine (referred to as the "2nd-gen JDM B16A") was rated at 170ps, which is 168hp.

JDM block stamps only use 4 characters (ex. B16A), while USDM block stamps use 5 characters (ex. B16A3).

If it comes with a transmission and ECU, that is a great price. If it is just the longblock, then it is a horrible rip off.

It is just about as easy as they get. A search will net you more information than you will ever need about engine swaps.

So there was no B16A3 in Japan? Or how do you tell the difference between the JDM B16A engines, or are they all the same output?

Technically there are B16A, B16A1, B16A2, B16A3, B16A5... The numbers are gonna be pretty close 160-170hp, like most people, you're probably gonna change the cams, air filter, exhaust, etc. This will change your hp anyways, so once you mod it, take it to a dyno shop to get the actual hp @ the wheels!

Please explain to me how the ECU will affect a painted line on a piece of plastic.

Re: (Targa250R)
Sorry guys, I thought when you say where does the engine redline at it meant the engine itself which the ECU governs.
If for the cluster i would have said where does the cluster redline at.
Sorry for the confusion.
