B16A2 vs. B18B - Which Would You Choose?
I know the ending for my D16Y8 gets nearer and nearer every day. What I want for the current car I have right now is just a moderately quick (not fast), daily driver.
Now I've seen MANY different websites advertising B16A2's and B18B's at different prices with different mileage, what it comes with, etc. etc. But I'm still stuck between the two.
For a daily driver (not gonna go F/I or anything with either motor, strictly daily driver), would you go with a B16A2 (SI) or a B18B (LS)? I do NOT want anything more powerful over either and definitely don't wanna go back to a D-Series even though I have nothing against them. I will be mod'ing whichever engine I get with simple I/H/E, maybe clutch/flywheel, etc. Just simple bolt-ons. And then the car will definitely already have plenty of suspension mods by then.
Vote and post a reason.

I still say LS, even after the admin deleted the first 50 times LS was chosen over B16 in terms of actual explanation. Only reason B16 is winning in the polls is b/c H-T consists of a lot of ricers that thing "AHH VTEC" not knowing the first thing about anything therefore choosing the B16.
VTEC doesn't really mean too much in terms of a daily driver. You shouldn't need to wind it to the redline in every single gear, everywhere you go, completely unnecessary.
The LS's have torque, which makes them great daily drivers, the increased displacement isn't enough to lower your gas to any substantial amount.
LS FTW for a daily driver!! Especially if you have a lot of places to go where a B16's short tranny can be a *****.

Not a choice .
G2 remember, he's not racing, not dragging, no ricer racing, daily driving.
The LS motors make excellent daily drivers IMO, so do the B20's, but they weren't listed.

First off I have a b16 in my 93 eg hatchback and it mostly stock and the torque in my hatch back feels almost like my h22 felt in my 95 accord and I have a ls trans at that. People keep forgetting that the b16 tranmission has very short gears which actually make up for the torque in actual terms of how the car picks up. I also feel like a lot of people don't experience real vtec most people feel or say when there car hits vtec they just simply hear the car get louder. In my car when it hits vtec, I actually feel the car lunge and feel the added power besides just simply hearing the car get louder. So vtec to me is important and the reason why I love the b16 overall than the b18b.

Why is this still here??
Its not like its going to be any better than the dozens of other b16a vs ls threads.
Whats worse, is this thread was pre-existing, and all posts were deleted from it.....yet, here it is again

No you don't. Ricer. No, you don't. You don't feel it LUNGE into extra power. No, jeez. What the hell. No. I can't believe you actually said that.
You feel it lunge into power? It's 1.6L of not even a high CR. I can't believe you actually said that, I'm dumbfounded. I'm without words. "I feel my car LUNGE into the extra power" - almost sounds like you're saying "feels like the gods came down and gave my car abnormal powers, and at the VTEC crossover, the tires spin so hard the front end pops off the ground, it chases down Z06's, and Vipers are a joke. etc. etc."
Damn man. Look up what the hell VTEC actually is "I feel my car LUNGE into VTEC." God that is some quality ****, you can become a rice writer. "And I felt my car lunge into VTEC and the Ferrari taillights just became closer and closer...as I felt the 1.6L of massive displacement peak at one hundred fourty wheel horse power...."
Damn.
I'm with skoundrel on this one, get a dyno graph, I wanna see a vertical spike at the VTEC crossover point by the way you're describing it.
