B16A2 Swap into EG4 No VTEC
So I've swapped a B16a2 into my LSI EG4. Used a vtec dash loom, and a vtec engine loom yet I'm getting no vtec. The thing just seems to be one issue after the next at the moment but I'm slowly getting there.
So basically, start the car, idles spot on, no EML, everything's good.
Take it down the road, 5k odd, no vtec and by 6k the EML comes on. Still happily revs to its normal limit though. Just no vtec.
Turn the car off, turn it back on again.
EML has gone out. Take it up the road and it does the exact same thing.
When I check the EML (before turning the car off) all it's saying is Vtec spool solenoid (code 21).
I'd of thought, if it was a wiring issue it'd illuminate the EML as soon as I started the car.
Only thing that's making me wonder is, when idling after the run the revs are up and down a little, 700 rpm to 12-1300rpm for a minute or so, until revved again, and the same 700 to 12-1300.
However everywhere I read, vacuum doesn't seem to effect VTEC. However I'm unsure if it'd effect oil pressure enough to stop vtec from engaging?
Replaced the engine oil already so it's got fresh, new 10w40 in it. And there is the correct quantity, checked God knows how many times.
Running out of ideas, and fast, anybody got any?
