B16a2 Swap into 1998 Civic Coupe Ex (Wiring)
Hello,
First off, let me say I bought a front clip Honda Civic Si 1999 and I want to do the swap into my 1998 civic ex coupe. I am trying to figure out the wiring for the computer and engine harness from the B16a2 to my civic 1998 EX. I have bought the electrical troubleshooting manual from Helms. I have noticed that the C131 Green plug and Plugs for the computer (Connector A and B) are the same, but the the wires and pinouts have different funtions and are in different locations. It needs to be repinned. Also I am keeping my AC and Power Steering. trying to make it as stock as Possible.
I know they have jumper harness for this, but I was told to get it bard from the Referee their cannot be any jumper harness.
Has any one done the swap and that has done the pinouts to match. If so Does anyone have the schematics for the pinouts to the connectors that they wrote up? The ET is very difficult to search for each wire on both sides for each car and is giving me all kinds of headaches. Any knowledgeable input would be greatly appreciated.
My very last resort is to use a jumper harness. If any one has done this to their project and has used a jumper harness, input would also be appreciated.
If so, did you have any problems using the jumper Harness?
Thank you much in advance.

Re: B16a2 Swap into 1998 Civic Coupe Ex (Wiring)
You can do this one of 3 ways:
- Use the Si engine and cabin harness (you can't use just the engine harness on its own)
- Use the EX harness and a '96 - '97 USDM Del Sol VTEC ECU (OBD2A P30 so it plugs right in, not sure what the ref will say about the ECU being a year older than the car though) There is no USDM B16 ECU for '98 only.
- Use the EX harness and use a jumper harness (although as you said it probably wont pass BAR.

use the harness from your stock ex motor.. easiest way... just plug everything in ... i think there is a issue with the CFK or whatever it is... i didnt have this issue when i did my JDM gsr because i used the JDM ecu.. but i used a stock ex harness from a 96-98 and just plugged everything in

If I use my stock ex harness. what computer do I use. The stock 1998 harness. won't plug directly to the 99-00si computer. The wiring is different from the 1998 civic. Same plugs but different functions and pin locations.
Should I use a different computer like previous person said.
Thanks!

Also If I use the EX harness and make it work. Besides the CFK. Will all the other plugs match directly or will I have to add or delete any other wires or plugs.
Thanks Guys!

you cann do the cfk trick, the way i have my jdm b16a in my 98 civic ex is i run the jumper harness to the p30 for normal driving and the shop set it up for emssions that i can plug in the old d16y8 ecu and limp it around for a lil bit then bring it to get barrd. I don't know exactly what they did to make it so i could do that tho..

You'll need to convert the CKF from a 3 wire to a 2 wire plug, as well you'll may need to lengthen a couple of connectors to reach their respective sensors. If it was previously an automatic EX you'll need to convert from a 3 wire to a 2 wire IACV.

You wont throw any codes, i'm just not sure if the P30 will pass the visual portion of the inspection due to the fact that it will be at least a year older than the car it's going into.
