Default b16a2 rev limiter problem

Okay its in a 95 4 door. I'm running the JDM p30-950 ecu, I opened it up and its virgin. Vtec cross over is at 5k rev limiter is at 7100 rpms. No cels, car runs fine no problems except for a lil idle surge which I'm almost positive will stop when I bleed the cooling system. Also feels like its not making any power above 6500 and takes longer than it should to get from 6500 to the limiter (7100). Could my stock tach be off that much and it is actually reving to the 8400 rpm limiter? I'm at a loss with this one. This was a complete swap out of a 99 em1, not sure if it was reving correctly in the em1 or not.

^That's actually a pretty viable answer.

Have you tried swapping to another B series VTEC ECU, OP?

I haven't swapped it yet cause as far as I know this is supposed to be the correct computer and it is gonna cost me $160 for a chipped ecu with a base map. Im going to a meet tonight maybe I can get someone to let me try theirs. Will let you know the outcome.

there should be codes written on the outside, share them in this thread. You could also take a picture of the board with the cover removed. Between those two things someone can help you out with the answer. Its probably already somewhere on the website if you search for it diligently enough

Yeah thats automatic, you got a check engine light?

you can tell by the last three numbers

(9 or 0)(#)(#)

9 is auto, 0 is manual

that should work but I'm not sure if the transmission control system in that computer will hurt anything.

You need an ECU with a totally different fuel map. You can get it chipped for a manual B16 map....or buy a manual B16 OBD1 ECU.
